the smallest color of the smallest day.
Delmore Schwartz
Thankfully, when we have photographs, we don't have to rely on memory. At least, for everything. Photographs and memories walk hand-in-hand, working in tandem to masterfully record the precious details of days we've left behind.
This photograph is a beautiful representation of Maddie in a quiet moment. I love the highlights in her eyes, her creamy complexion and her tiny toes. But this photograph stirs my memory of more: a soft wind, the warm sun, the sound of belly laughter. The smell of spring grasses, the rattle of baby toys. Of course, those memories are just my recollections. I can only imagine the memories that this photograph evokes for her parents.
Enjoy every bit of this beautiful spring: the smallest color, the smallest day.
